526 Reasons Why I'm Not Married

Reasons #521& #520: Travel is a suitable surrogate partner

Reason #521 Why I’m Not Married

Remember when I said I would get back to the Africa trip?

Well, it’s all part of the Plan B my life has taken.  I never thought, as a young twenty-something, that I’d reach nearly 40 and be single.  I never knew I’d have so much trouble finding a suitable partner.

But, here I am.

And because I’m a make-lemonade-out-of-lemons gal, after many years of flopped relationships and dreadful failures (which I am sure will be the subject of many-a-post), I turned to travel.

It’s not strictly a reason why I’m single per se, but more the result of it, I guess.  But, it also leads to my point that I have been unwilling to settle.

I’ve watched my friends settle and divorce– or worse:  stay in a miserable marriage.  My life is too short with too much living to do, and marriage is hard enough with the right man; settling is not an option.

So, my unwillingness to settle–which I’m sure I’ll revisit–and its subsequent result: travelling is reason # 521 Why I’m not married.

….which leads me to Reason #520 Why I’m not married: my last observation from a recent African safari

“The male lion has several sexual partners,” the guide says.

“Just what every man dreams,” the American tourist with four children in tow responds.
